Reborn Photography

Take pictures of your babies in natural positions like a real baby would be. When youmaddy1702 see a sleeping baby sitting up, your mind will tell you that it's just not right.

Light is important. Natural sunlight is good, but for those of us who do their photography at night, your range hood is a great place to take pictures. Use a large piece of white fun fur and cover the cooktop and up the wall at the back (masking tape will hold it to the wall). Put baby on a pillow to elevate her head and click away.

Familiarize yourself with all the settings on your camera - it can do what you want, but you need to know what it can do :-)

Take many pictures so you have choices and use the close up feature on your camera. If you take pictures in the highest resolution, you will be able to get a better quality picture when it is digitized for the internet.

We use Adobe Photoshop to work with our pictures - it is quick and easy to crop, adjust color and brightness and even has an auto setting for picture coloring.

Digital cameras don’t have to be expensive to give good quality pictures. Some of the cameras we like to use are Sony FD, Olympus, Kodak, Canon and others. Our favorite camera - the Sony Mavica FD - takes pictures on a floppy disk, which we loved until we found the new laptops don’t come with floppy drives and the convenience factor of taking pictures on the floppy disk wasn’t so convenient by the time we dug the external floppy disk out of the desk and plugged it in. We now use the memory stick and a sony mouse that allows us to load the memory stick right in the mouse to access the pictures. We love the ability the Sony Mavica FD has to recharge the battery while it is in the camera, however it is a bulky camera, and it got to be an annoyance to carry back and forth to job sites. This camera is approx. $500.

We then purchased an Olympus D-560 Zoom and love its compact usefulness. It takes marvelous pictures and uploads easily with a USB cable. The downside to the Olympus is that it eats batteries at an annoying rate so we have 3 sets of Duracell rechargeable batteries with any given set recharging to keep up with camera use. The Olympus also has longer refresh times between taking pictures and we lose picture opportunities while waiting for the camera to reset itself. This camera is approx. $300.

We are happy with our camera situation at the current time, having a choice for situations requiring specific camera needs. Compact or bulky, internally rechargeable or not, it will be up to you to decide what your needs are as you prepare to upgrade or purchase a new (or used) camera. Be sure to take advantage of the information on the net and also check ebay for pretty good prices if you are astute.

Our most recent purchase is the new Sony Cybershot camera. It is very small, takes excellent pictures and movies and does a marvelous job of taking reborn baby pictures. The cost is just under $500. We recommend that you purchase a memory card with more space for convenience - we purchased a 512 card.
